A blueprint for an integrated European research and technology infrastructure ecosystem
Access to cutting-edge research and technology facilities is essential if European companies are to compete globally. That is the central message of the RTI Summit 2025 Position Paper, published by the Danish Technological Institute and GTS.
Held under the Danish EU Presidency, the summit brought together Europe’s Research Infrastructure (RI) and Technology Infrastructure (TI) communities to strengthen framework conditions, improve access, and accelerate innovation.
The position paper sets out five actionable pathways and offers concrete guidance to decision-makers at European and national level on how to:
improve framework conditions for efficient company access to state-of-the-art research and technology infrastructures
implement key actions from the European strategy on research and technology infrastructures
Taken together, these five pathways can help move Europe from a fragmented landscape of facilities towards an integrated, demand-driven research and technology infrastructure ecosystem that supports competitiveness, resilience, and the twin transitions across the EU. Supported by the European Commission and the Novo Nordisk Foundation, the summit brought together more than 350 participants including policymakers, EU officials, industry leaders, RTOs, universities, and innovators from across Europe.
